KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is offering an optional and complete life insurance cover to its passengers travelling from overseas to Pakistan as well as to passengers on domestic routes, the airline’s spokesman announced on Thursday.

Under this scheme, all PIA passengers travelling from overseas can avail insurance cover for their entire stay in Pakistan for Rs10 million on payment of $10. The scheme is also available for passengers travelling on domestic routes, from their hometown to another domestic destination.

He said that the insurance cover is offered in partnership with Eastern Federal Union (EFU) Insurance Company to provide protection to passengers in case of accidental death and permanent disability, even if it occurs as a result of terrorist activity. Apart from the optional insurance scheme offered, all passengers travelling on any domestic or international flight operated by PIA is covered under the airline’s Aviation Insurance Programme. Passenger claims are settled on the basis of applicable convention for passenger claims settlement.
