Upcoming budget: Minister hints at CNG price hike

Petroleum Minister says price will not be a sharp rise rather a gradual increase in the CNG cess

ISLAMABAD: Petroleum Minister Dr Asim Hussain has said that a raise in the rate of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is being included to the recommendations for federal budget 2012-13. Talking to a private news channel, the minister, however, added that it will not be a sharp rise rather a gradual increase in the CNG cess, and as a result the price of CNG will not witness a sudden boost. “Even if the price is to be increased, it will not happen before July 1,” Hussain said. It is pertinent to mention here that federal budget 2012-13 is all set to be presented before National Assembly on June 1.
