Health upgrade: Lady health workers vital

Message to rural women that delivery assisted by skilled birth attendants could save lives of mothers and their babies

LAHORE: Minister for Labour Haji Ehsaanuddin Qureshi has said that paramedical staff of Social Security hospitals will be upgraded along the pattern of Health Department paramedics. Addressing a delegation of paramedics of Social Security hospitals on Sunday, he said the government was promoting public health and preventive programmes besides upgrading health facilities for which community participation and the role of lady health workers was vital. Lady health workers have to convey the message to rural women that delivery assisted by skilled birth attendants could save lives of new mothers and their babies, he said.
