KARACHI: The provincial education minister Pir Mazharul Haq criticised the decision to readmit students who were rusticated for their alleged involvement in creating an adverse law and order situation in the Sindh University (SU) campus following the murder of Prof. Bashir Channar. In a statement issued on Sunday, Haq, who is also the pro vice chancellor of the university, said that the family of the slain professor must be taken into confidence before the suspects were readmitted. Haq also claimed that a “hidden hand” was behind destabilising the academic atmosphere in the campus and criticised leaders of the university’s teachers association for shedding “crocodile tears” over the doctor’s murder and “making a fuss for their own motives.” The minister admitted that it was a cause of concern that academic activities were going across all universities except the Sinch University and asked the SU administration to focus on the interests of the students.
