Football: CL defeat haunts Rummenigge

Bayern Munich Chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insisted that he is still haunted by the Champions League defeat to Chelsea, according to ESPN. Bayern lost to the English club on a penalty shoot-out and Rummenigge claimed that the pain was more excruciating than their loss to Manchester United in 1999. “When I wake up, my first thoughts are always about this game,’’ said Rummenigge.  “The pain within our club is so strong, stronger than it was after we lost to Manchester United in the final of 1999. I feel it is going to haunt us for a long time to come. [But] I lost two World Cup finals – 1982 and 1986 – and from my experience, I know that time heals wounds.’’
