QUETTA: At least three people were killed and nine were injured in a blast on Saryab Road in Quetta on Sunday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Saryab Sikandar Tareen said that the bomb had been planted inside a car and was used to target the police.

The bomb had been detonated using a remote control when a mobile of the New Saryab Police Station was passing by.

“Unknown persons detonated the device by remote control when a patrolling vehicle of PS New Saryab passed by.”

Amongst the three killed, two were identified as a donkey-cart owner, Mohammad Younus and rickshaw driver . The injured also included the Station House Officer (SHO) of the police station.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.

The injured were shifted to the Sandeman Provincial Hospital immediately after the incident and were reported to be out of danger.

“Three dead bodies and nine injured were brought for treatment,” doctors said.

Security personnel cordoned off the area after the incident.

The police have been frequently coming under attack in Quetta for the past one month and seven police personnel have so far been killed while several have sustained injuries in targeted killings and bomb blasts. “Police are receiving threats by an armed group that is involved in target killings in Quetta,” a senior official said, adding that efforts are underway to maintain law and order.

A rocket attack in Quetta earlier had resulted in the death of at least two people and had injured over 20 others.

@ AJ KHAN, @KHAN @Butt "If we pull out FC as has been suggested by the political parties in the Lawyer’s Seminar, then the consequences are going to horrendous."

You guys think keeping FC in Balochistan, and letting them do what they please; torture, extra judicial killings, kidnapping, and harassing local Baloch populations would help to quell this insurgency then all of you are arrogant to what's really happening there. Instead of blaming the so called "foreign intelligence agencies" why not look into the real problem? Why this insurgency never dies? pakistani state and army has been using brute force since their inception but always failing to completely dismantle this insurgency. Treat the locals with respect, see them as your own, and listen, understand their griefs. This insurgency wouldn't last a week if ordinary Balochs are against it. A local fisherman might hate the insurgents for stirring up trouble but they resent the army/FC presences much more! I'm from Makran region and I can tell you nobody I know, sees FC as their savior or protector. Why? you may ask, because this lot you call your "pak jawan" think they own Balochistan, and Baloch people as their slaves. Treating them like dirt, I've passed through checkpoints in vindar, ormara, pasni, turbat, gwadar, jiwani. the way they treat all the local baloch people is humiliating and such treatments just fuel the old hatred against FC. and plus, majority of FC is compromised of outsiders this doesn't help either.

This insurgency may die one day but that'll be the last day of union between Balochistan and the state. Open your eyes like into your own soul rather than blaming left and right.

Perhaps it was done by our brave army and its intelligence agencies , as they are under pressure by political parties and judiciary to pull out their presence in the province. So in this way they are actually making the excuses for their stay. This is what we call "The policy of fear" - use it and make your presence everywhere.
