LAHORE: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Aslam Tareen has ordered station house officers (SHOs) to register cases under Section 66/67 of the Copyright Act only after hearing both parties, after the sub divisional police officer (SDPO) verifies the complaint, and with the approval of the deputy inspector general (DIG) of the operations wing. The city’s police chief said in a statement that police officers were registering these cases dishonestly or without proper verification, resulting in hassles for law-abiding citizens in police stations and kutcheris. The CCPO said that any SHO who failed to implement these directions would be subject to departmental action. He said citizens facing any difficulty in this regard should contact Inspector Sagheer Ahmed of the Citizen Feedback Cell on his mobile phone (0321-9474414) or at his office (042-99201366).
