As many as 25 protesting villagers were arrested near Ghaggo Mandi on Saturday when some of them scuffled with the police.
A case was registered against 39 nominated and 25 unidentified people.
Police said that residents of Chak 287-EB, including former union council nazim Rana Shahid Sarwar arrived at the Ghaggo Mandi police station and protested against police in front of it.
They said reinforcements were called to disperse the protestors after protesters pelted the police station with stones.
Police used tear gas to break the protest.
Six policemen, including SHO Rai Muhammad Akram, were injured in the incident.
Protestors said they were protesting after police registered a false case against villagers.
They demanded that the case be terminated. Pakistan People’s Party MNA Asghar Ali Jatt condemned the incident and demanded a departmental inquiry.
