Islamabad district jail: Report on modifications submitted

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) and officials of Islamabad district administration have submitted their report to the chief commissioner regarding the construction of district jail in place of Tarnol Police Station, official sources said on Friday. He said CDA officials and superintendent Adiala Jail visited the site of the under-construction Tarnol Police Station and worked out details for modifying it. The project concept has been submitted along with details of the estimated cost. However, the source expressed concern over the construction of the prison in Tarnol because of its location on the outer cordon of Islamabad. He said necessary modifications in the building of what was originally the Tarnol Police Station would have to be made. The requirements for converting it into a prison include the construction of 18 to 20-feet high boundary walls, a central tower, check posts and barracks for prisoners.
