ISLAMABAD: The acting President on Thursday appointed Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, the most senior Judge, as the acting Chief Justice of Pakistan in accordance with Article 180 of the Constitution of Pakistan during the period Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary, Chief Justice of Pakistan, remains abroad in connection with receiving International Jurists Award 2012 and to participate in the International Conference of Jurists, scheduled to be held on May 28-29, 2012 in London. He made the temporary appointment on the advice of the prime minister.
