FAISALABAD: District police have failed to arrest 8,872 proclaimed offenders in the city. Of the target given to the police for 2011, the police department has so far arrested 3,185 proclaimed offenders. District police spokesperson said the additional charge of Faisalabad region was handed over to Sheikhupura regional police officer (RPO) Zulfiqar Cheema after RPO Aftab Cheema proceeded to America for training. The additional charge was, however, taken back from Zulfiqar Cheema and handed over to Faisalabad City Police Officer Bilal Siddique Kamyana. Talking to The Express Tribune, Kamyana said that efforts were being made to weed out the street crimes completely from the city. “We have evolved a comprehensive strategy under which each police station in the district has been given a target to arrest at least two POs daily,” he said.
