Asians lead US in college degrees
Among groups of Asian Americans 25 and older, 74 per cent of Taiwanese and 71 per cent of Indians had at least a bachelor's degree, the agency said as part of its release of American Community Survey data on hundreds of racial, tribal and Hispanic groups.
The comparable figure for the US population overall is 28 per cent. Several Southeast Asian groups fell behind the overall US rate for a bachelor's degree or higher. They included Vietnamese at 26 per cent, Cambodian and Hmong at about 14 per cent and Laotian at 12 per cent. Among all groups surveyed, Salvadorans had the lowest percentage with a bachelor's degree or higher, at 8 per cent.

@Rafi Ka Deewana: i think we are in a mess precisely because we all are smart and think all other around us are fools. A classic case of too many cooks spoiling the broth.
@Rafi Ka Deewana: dont you think we have earned some bragging rights espcially Indians, i dont know about Pakistani, where ever ones goes we can see a big difference in preception of Pakistani and an Indian(mostly Positive).About being great we just started our journey so far it has been good considering the challengs we face poverty diversity most of all bad neighbhorhood.As for Pakistan well you just need to compare census of their population from the 50s to current date and ask what happend to their minorities.
@KDP: I agree. I was just trying to pre-empt us Desis from bragging about how great we are. India and especially Pakistan wouldn't be in such a big mess if we were that smart!

I think Census Bureau report covers Asian descent American Citizens (Born in the USA and of course those who acquired citizenship the group you refer to). American Born Asians perhaps is the larger group.
You have to take these numbers in perspective. You can compare Indians and Pakistanis in the US, but not the Indians and Americans as that will be apples to oranges. An American in the US is just born whereas an Indian in America went there for higher education and to make more money. So, there is a selection bias here. There are a lot of Americans in India doing full time job. Can you compare them with the local Indians? No.
