RAWALPINDI:

Hundreds of paramedics from Holy Family, Benazir Bhutto and District Headquarter hospitals on Wednesday protested in front of the Rawalpindi Press Club.

They were seeking regularisation from the Punjab government, pay protection for grade 1 to 17 paramedics, and service structure for grade 1 to 4 paramedical staff.

They blocked the Benazir Bhutto Road for all kinds of traffic, triggering a massive gridlock of the city’s main artery and its link roads.

The protesters including female staff gathered under the banner of All Paramedics Alliance (APA).

APA President Khawaja Iftikhar and other office bearers, while addressing the protesters, denounced the Punjab government for what termed “economic exploitation of paramedics”.
