Welcome decision: JUI-F to take part in LG polls

Secretary general in Sindh welcomed a decision made by the SHC to hold the LG elections within 90 days.

KARACHI: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has announced that it will participate both in the general and local body elections and has already started talking to political parties about alliances. The party’s Dr Khalid Mahmood Soomro, who is the secretary general in Sindh, welcomed a decision made by the Sindh High Court to order the government to hold the local government elections within 90 days. In a statement issued on Wednesday, he said that the polls were essential for democracy. He added, however, that without correct and error-free voter lists, these elections would be meaningless.
