I am being targeted because I say the MQM is behind the Mohajir Sooba Tehreek: Marvi
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Marvi Memon has alleged that the “same people are responsible for the events of May 22 who were behind those on May 12, 2007”.
She has also alleged that the “MQM is behind the Mohajir Sooba Tehreek”, and believes that she is being targeted because she is making this claim.
According to Memon, she was at the rally to represent the PML-N after having accepted an invitation from Ayaz Palijo. “The PML-N supports the two issues the rally was for – condemning the deaths of innocent people in Lyari and condemning the division of Sindh.”
Memon took PML-N Sindh president Ghous Ali Shah into confidence and he had endorsed the issues. She was representing the PML-N at the rally with the party’s provincial youth wing president and a handful of workers.
As far as allegations against her being responsible for Tuesday’s events are concerned, Memon said the MQM had targeted her for naming them as being behind the Mohajir Sooba Tehreek, and Rehman Malik’s allegations were “so ludicrous they were not worth commenting on”.
“The government talks against [the billboards and graffiti] but has not been able to remove [them]. They are in cahoots with the MQM. Or they are not in charge. That means the MQM is in charge.”
Memon recounted the events of Tuesday. The PML-N contingent first went to Ibrahim aka Cheel Chowk where they were told that the rally would start from Uzair Baloch’s residence.
The rally took off, and appeared to be divided into two – a large group of people from Lyari, including women, and the workers of the Awami Tehreek. When they moved towards MA Jinnah Road, the people at the back of the rally came under fire.
Memon’s driver escaped the attack but her jeep was hit by bullets. At this point, they decided to stop at Denso Hall and wait for the rest of the rally to catch up but she believes this is when they were caught in the crossfire and were targeted by attackers in buildings.
She says when the remaining people caught up with the rally – most had left because of the panic –they moved forward to II Chundrigar Road. Memon was then called by the PML-N to attend an emergency meeting to recount what had transpired, and so she left and the party had its own press conference.

22nd May, the Tuesday, was a full working day. On that day rally was organised from a place which has been very difficult to control by law enforcing agencies. Route of the rally was highly congested, thickly populated, Centre of Bank`s head offices, and also business/commercial/whole-sale market hub not only of Karachi but the whole Pakistan. Was it not a mischievous and planned act of a great sabotage? All who organised should have been arrested and taken to the task. Marvi Memon fell to the pray of crook and corrupt politicians, Ghous Ali Shah/Nawaz Shareef. To participate in such a rally was not the status of Marvi Memon.

What a real and wonderful political party of Pakistan- MQM. A great group of workers comprising of young, well educated and talented people, dedicated selflessly to their pious cause ie betterment of Pakistan. Their leader, Altaf Hussain, a unique personality in this region who has declared that he will never take part in elections and will never be a candidate for a minister, Governor, Prime Minister and President. Is there any other leader in Pakistan who will make such an announcement? No, that is the reason these dedicated and capable sons of Pakistan (MQM workers) are always blamed by greedy and corrupt politicians.

If Mohajir Soba Tahreek (MQM Shadow group) takes out rallies, and billboards with hate messages spread out in Karachi, it is called "freedom of expression." So they can be allowed to enter even RED ZONE and with regard to their right to protest, they were served with juices and mineral water. While other side of coin, if Awami Tahreek, PMLN, Lyari people take out rally, it is labeled as effort to create "hate", they were stopped with containers, police got missing, and they were served with bulets and blood. Media's biased approach was also proved, many Urdu TV channels were taking sides with killers and terrorists. What a justice and freedom of expression in Pakistan. Terrorists get scot free and innocent people gets killed.
How can anyone trust a turncoat like Marvi. People have seen her on tv for the last 10 years worshipping Musharaff and abusing the Shariff's. Now she worships the Shariff's so strange. @Junaid Naseer Faroqui: freely? or..................??? in the last election of 2008 i alongwith a friend went to cast my vote. near the poling station there were camps of dif parties. to be on a safer side i went to mqm camp and asked serial number in the voters list. the young boy i asked from in turn asked me where do i live. i told him the locality i live in, he laughed and advised me to go home and enjoy my holiday as they have already disposed off about 800 votes of my locality so "don't worry your vote has been cast!!!?"

A little off-topic, but just something I'd always thought whenever I saw this lady on the news - it is utterly depressing to see that this person is actually considered such an important political figure in this (or any) country. I probably wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemies.
Ms Marvi is true asset to Pakistan. Her joining to PML-N further boost her sincerity towards the betterment of Pakistan. She is brave, hardworking and have strong character. She knows the real issue of Pakistani Nation. Now she has strong platform in the view of PML-N from where the real issue are not only highlighted but also can be implemented.

If she considers Urdu-speaking population the same as Sindhis, then why endorse a quota system? Quota system is clearly an institutional discrimination against the Urdu-speaking population - while drawing a divide between Urdu speaking Sindhis and Native Sindhis. Let's promote an egalitarian society based on merit.
