According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, the inspector general of Sindh will supervise the team which will have members from Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and Special Branch.
The statement further said that it will also be investigated why the rally was taken out by the Awami Tehreek and backed by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, without taking permission from the government.
The team will also investigate riots that broke out during the rally.
Malik had a discussion with Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah and the chief secretary, and said that every possible effort will be made to bring the terrorists to justice.
It was proposed during the meeting that the heirs of the deceased be granted Rs200,000 each and the injured Rs50,000 each.

@Karachiwala: With due all your respect, bro urdu is our national language we do accept it. you are saying sindhi has become the tied valve around your neck to pass the matriculation examination. Govt has set this policy to give knowledge of sindhi language to other people who claim themselves as non sindhis. being the citizen of sindh it is necessity of every citizen to learn the sindhi in order the make himself as walking talking label of his own province, whereever he will go, people will know automatically by his speaking, yeah he is sindhi, must be from sindh pakistan.
Though learning sindhi is not compulsory, or you can say have to be died to learn sindhi. but sindhi makes you feel proud to be live in sindh. these things boost up the social harmony among the different nations of pakistan. Among all the national languages of pakistan, sindhi is the only language which has its own alphabets, pure grammer and literature. apart from arabic, Quran e pak was first translated into sindhi language, by Molvi Ahmed malah, or some people say makhdoom nooh.
thank you.
@Khurram: they still the son of indians mate there only solution is lying in another naseerullah babar
@Karachiwala: Just to give you other side of coin: Urdu is first language of hardly 7% percent. Why should we learn Urdu then? Bengalis refused to learn Urdu and this was Urdu controversy which paved the way for Bengladesh. Instead we learn English as official language and every one will excel in English or we learn Arabic as Muslim and native languages in respective provinces of Pakistan. But again, we all learn Urdu and never question it. But if you look down upon languages of native people, your language will also come into question.
@Karachiwala: If you migrated to Germany you would learn to speak German, if you migrated to the US UK or Canada you would learn English. So why do you have a problem in speaking Sindhi? The main issue here is that the Mohajirs who migrated to Punjab speak Punjabi because they had to, but the Sindhis did not force you to learn Sindhi and instead learned your language.
A mohajir by definition is a refugee who moves to another country temporarily and returns to his home country when the danger he faced is over. Alternatively they might want to remain in the host country as immigrants and adopt the language and culture. In your case you do not want to do either of the two.
What if the Mexicans living in the US insist that they do not need to learn to speak English and that the national language of the US should be Spanish.
@Karachiwala: For most of the jobs regional language is a must. Im definitely not going to hire you if you ever come to me for an interview with that attitude :)
@Sindhi_Pakistani No problem in learning other languages. my language is URDU, but i have to learn ARABIC to be religously aware, and i must have to learn English to compete in this world or to understand the basic Pakistan Penal code Law.
Now on top of all that you want me to learn sindhi ALSO... come on.. you are making me look stupid.
if i were to do a research in mohen jo daro, or to shah abdul latif bhitai then learning sindhi is fine.
to make it a subject to earn extra points is understandable...
But the problem is SOME people wants to make SINDHI as my destiny decider. if i fail in sindhi, i cannot pass METRIC board..... do you get my point? not yet? lets take it this way, if a student takes a Sindhi subject, his marking would get additional 20 points in grand total. so if i am interested in getting 20 points additional, i will take sindhi. if i want to pursue a career in sindh oriented historical objects, i am attracted to it.
But if i myself wants to be an ENGINEER, i do not need SINDHI. dont Tie my "FUTURE" on to this subject.
@Karachiwala: It is era of information, every European is encouraged to learnmultiples languages, one European langauge except English is compularosy in most of EU countries. Language is part of connection and makes a strong base for social cohesion. You live in the land of river Indus (Sindhis). If you learn Sindhi for social cohesion, it will help u not harm you. Dont turn blind eye with hate but I think people should speak other regional languages as well like Punjabi, Balochi and Pushtoons. However if people live in Sindh, what is harm in learning the language of land. Pre-partition, Sindhi was compulsory, even English rulers used to learn Sindhi, famous scholars of Sindhi were H.T Sorley, Frere, etc. If they can learn Sindhi living in Sindh, why not you?
i am glad my sindhi friends have joined the people who comment here. the mqm affiliated muhajirs make it look like everybody wants sindh divided. sindh is for sindhis and it will ALWAYS REMAIN ONE. (just for info: i consider everyone who calls sindh home and at least try to learn the language SINDHI and wherever they came from. meanwhile these miscreants will recieve the fate they deserve.
@Khurram:
If you think you are son of this land how come some of your people are entertaining ideas of dividing it? Yours is a strange logic.
@Shani: It is just the first step. The next step would be Jinnahpur my friend.
Don't luagh dear what may come but nawaz sharif will never go succeeded from sindh we that is diplomacy of nawaz sharif to devide sindh in 2 pieces, but we are alive
The situation is hilarious and tragic both at the same time. Sindhis and their chosen and blindly followed party the PPP was already beginning to celebrate the division of Punjab but now they are crying when their home province is beginning to split. The famous proverb "dusron ke liye khadda khodo gai tau khud us mein giro gay" is at work here. Good lesson for my my Sindhi friends. Do not try to divide others if you do not wish division of your own province.
MQM was behind the yesterday's carnage of innocent people.
@ people who are demanding for a separate province
Kindly consider the following
1) If Karachi is to be a separate province the Urdu speaking community in Hyderabad and rest of Sindh can face severe backlash. 2) Reason for Seraiki province is to make the national assembly seats divided fairly, not more then 50% Punjab. 3) There are other ways of asking for a separate province rather then blood shed. 4) If Karachi is to be separate then Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur have to develop some sort of economy to support rest of the province otherwise it will be another Baluchistan. That is why asking for a separate province is selfish.
Apart form the Zulfiqar Mirza outburst Sindhis and Muhajirs are fairly living in peace. By taking this route Muhajirs will make another enemies and that they cant afford since unfortunately relations with other ethnicities arent very cozy either.
@Khurram: If Mohajirs have right to live in Karachi, What about Balochs, Pushtoons, Punjabis, Hazaras, Gujrai Memons, Bengalis, Sindhis? They also live in Karachi..No? Will you carve out new provinces within Karachi for each community? The population of Urdu speaking is hardly fifty percent in Karachi. What will you advice for rest of communities. To me, solution is devolution of Karachi is five districts and empowring each unit with local govt system.
@Rauf: Sorry to say But People of Karachi that are born there are also Now Sons of that land. If The people of South Punjab and Hazara are the sons of this Land then people of Karachi are also Sons of the land where they live. This shows your thinking that despite more than 60 years and after two generations you are telling people of Karachi that we are not sons of this land. It is Shameful thinking on your part. Shame on you for using the word Muhajir again when Addressing People of Karachi and even said that we dont have any moral right on the land where we live.!!!!!
Lesson learnt. Never ever welcome your Muslim brothers with open arms. Brotherhood fine, neighborhood never.
@Salman Orangiwala: We in South Punjab are demanding a province on our own land and so are people in Hazara Division. Demanding a new province in Sindh by Muhajhirs has no moral basis. It is like land grabbing by land mafia. If such a province is made it will always remain illegitimate.
@Salman Orangiwala: dear, are you mohajir? where are the mohajirs? mohajir is a person who does migration, not the son of that person. so be mature, and try to be Pakistani and Sindhi. I bet not more than 1000 real "Mohajirs" ( who actually does migration ) are still alive. the current mohajirism is basically a foreign agenda to weaken the Pakistan and nothing. BTW, what are the problems with urdu speaking people, our last dictator was an urdu speak.
Successive Governments and Establishment have been appeasing terrorists, militant wings and Pseudo political pressure groups. Thanks to their poor policies, there is no rule & law, only law of Jungle. Like in any other cosmopolitan, New york, Paris, Mumbai, etc, people from all colors, class, creeds, cultures and ethnicity live in same city. This diversity makes city more vibrant and dynamic wheel for rapid prosperity. Mumbai is multicultural city but also part of Maharashtra province, Paris is part of ile de France, New York is part of NY state. Similarly Karachi is part of Sindh. No one can deny this fact. Urdu speaking should accept this fact that they live in the land of Sindhis. and their future generations future is also linked to this land and these people.
Moulana Abulkalam Azad predicted that Pakistan will be center of sectarian violence and division and he proved to be right seeing current situation. Similarly, even if Mohajir soba will be carved out, there will be battle again, which Mohajir is real Mohajir.. from UP, Bihari, Bengali, Gujrati, Afghani, Burmi, etc? A new turf war will emerge.
Love and Respect for Everyone. New province or No Province it won't help a common man. Those who failed to deliver it as one unit wont be able to do anything even if its divided. Think Literate Act WISE! Don't indulge in dirty games of Politicians. Don't Divide Yourself!
Sindh was neither colonized by refugees nor by our Establishment, our forefather gave sacrifices for Pakistan. Sindh voluntarily became part of this federation. No body can dictate us nor we need any certificate from any one. What a bounty of freedom for us, today, those people who were welcomed to be part of this land and live with us as brothers in Sindh, are dictating their evil designs against Sindh through barrels of guns. Pakistan doesnt End in Sindh and if they have problem being Sindhi, they better leave Sindh any time.
@Zamir Malik: I think you missed the condemnation published by PTI yesterday...just because something doesn't make it to limelight doesn't mean it doesn't exist. PTI cares every bit about the innocent blood spilled on the streets like rest of the Pakistani citizens.

Brothers from Karachi
Do not play with fire. Separate province is out of question. Demand for truly representative local bodies is a just one. Hatred wont get you any where. Please understand all other parties , provinces and other language speakers are on the same page. No question of division of sindh. Period.
@PAK-SINDHI: thank you brother on giving pro sindh comments.
@ Orangiwala, check ur tone or otherwise 4 crore SINDHIs will come roaring on Karachi..........KARACHI was part of SINDH and it will remain part of SINDH.........you can have visa of timbaktu..............
@Salman Orangiwala: Until your so-called "writing on the wall" becomes a reality, it IS and WILL BE Sindh or Sindh including Karachi.
I suggest trying your hand at promoting inter-community harmony and fraternity than propagating the gerrymanderism and creation of another Palestine like situation. The first step can be changing the suffix in your name.
PPP and MQM are doing the politics of hate and lingual differences. These things have increased during the tenure of present government.
Its a planned game, whatever people will do, things are being occurred as planned. Mohajir Province is a planned game and is in line with Jinnah Pur. All the main political parties heads are well aware of this.
By proposing the Seraiki province our 'foresighted' PM had no idea know what forces he would be unleashing. If a dialect of Punjabi can be the reason for a separate province than any group could claim the same right.
One would have to research the inflow of refugees from different parts of India at Partition; my own opinion is that there were more from East Punjab than from other provinces of India. Language does not divide the Punjabi migrants, but it does the Urdu speaking migrants
Wonder where the Founder of the country would have stood on this one; someone who couldn't speak any of the provincial languages of Pakistan; and could barely speak Urdu and I guess a smattering of his own Gujurati. The language he was most fluent in was of course English.
@Adeel: Well my problem is simple that according to educated Urban youth Imran Is the greatest leader of South Asia after Muhammad Bin Qasim. But the point is that he is not and we are blindly following him and as a result we are misguided as well. Why I mentioned Imran Khan at this point is the reason that last day murders in Karachi was like a Real Test for the Greatest leader to come up with the Policy statement but he failed to come forward. So conclusion is that Pakistan dont have any leader in actual. As far as the mentioning of Facebook and Twitter is concerned then i would tell that Politics is in my blood and i know what is the difference in Regional and National Politics. Apart from Lahore In my view in Whole of Pakistan we can only see regional politics and regional politics situation tells us otherwise who is gonna win in next elections. Imran Khan have selected a Pakhtoon Alamgir Khan Mehsud to represent ISF Sindh and as a result there is huge resentment in Sindhi people against Imran Khan that he cannot even select a Sindhi to represent ISF Sindh and now even Imran Khan is taking stance against Sindhis in Sindh?.
The solution for Sind appears to be democratic local government for the recognized divisions. We have not given enough thought to the fact that provincial governments yield too much power and those dominating provincial machinery ignore rights of other groups. The governments in Lahore has never done anything for people of Bhakkar. To go to Lahore is so difficult if you are living in those districts.
Pakistani media is biased as there are many Muhajirs in Pakistani media. It should be Sindh including Karachi.
kindly rectify the mistake... it should read strike observed in sindh including karachi... this is not expected from a leading paper like ET
@ Ahmed
I agree with you. yesterday i mentioned about out bias of jang today this paper has done the same.
And then some people claiming sooba say we are not listened.
all major media outlets have headquarters in karachi no one dare say some thing so called oppressed people.
@Ahmed: Agree
@ Ahmed , What do you mean? It is indeed Karachi AND Sindh .Read the writing on the wall .A separate province is imevitable for the Muhajirs .
As the situation in parts of Karachi and Sindh remained tense
- What does it mean? Karachi ''AND'' Sindh? It should be 'Sindh including Karachi' etc. Learn to report properly first. Express Tribune is one of the biggest media groups of Pakistan. This huge ERROR shouldn't be expected from it.
at least two mistakes in the above piece.
1: Interior Minister Interior Rehman Malik ordered the formation of an investigation team to probe the incident that left at least 13 people dead and over 35 injured, Express News reported.
2: 'alight' does not mean to set anything on fire. It means to descend.
poor editorial.
I am pretty sure since PPP have blamed Jeay Sindh, Awami Tehreek and PMLN for this mishap so Imran Khan will soon join the bandwagon and will have another opportunity to bash PMLN again as Imran Khan Politics is based on personal agenda and he simply went silent last night and rather he talked about drones and today I am sure he will blame PMLN for this mishap and will be tight lipped on the role of the biggest party of Karachi as Imran is dreaming to make coalition with them in future to become a Prime Minister of Facebook and Twitter.
Sounds like a Beirut in the making.
