‘Honour’ crime: Man kills daughter over suspicion

Rodala Road police said Syed Muhammad had suspected his daughter of having an affair.

FAISALABAD: A girl was shot dead by her father on Tuesday at their home in Chak 581-GB because he believed she was having an affair with a neighbour. Rodala Road police said Syed Muhammad had suspected his daughter of having an affair. The family said that he had stopped her several times from leaving the house. They said he had also beaten her over it. On Tuesday, there was an argument between them after which he shot her and fled. Police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination. No FIR has been registered so far. A man shot dead his sister, a cousin and his aunt in Peer da Kot, Nankana Sahib, on suspicions of ‘loose morals’. In Bahawalnagar’s Chak 201-M, a man axed his wife and his two-year-old daughter in their sleep. He had suspected his wife of having an illicit affair.
