A boy drowned while attempting to swim in Khanpur Lake on Monday.
According to the Khanpur police, Waleed Khan, hailing from Abbottabad, was taking a boat ride on the lake with three of his friends when they all decide to jumped off into the water to take a swim.
“The boys did now know how to swim, I don’t know why they jumped into the lake,” exclaimed the boatman, whom the boys had hired to take a boat ride along Khanpur Lake.
The boatman, who requested not to be named, said he immediately called the rescue workers nearby to fish the boys out.
The rescue workers managed to save three of the boys, however, Waleed could not be found till the filing this report.
Due to frequent incidents of drowning every summer, the district administration has banned swimming in Khanpur Lake under
Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
