BAHAWALPUR:

Two women were killed in two incidents of so-called honour crime in Bahawalpur.

Saddar police have arrested Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Choki Rango Khan in Kehror Pacca, and his brother-in-law for killing his wife Sughra Bibi. The FIR said Sughra Bibi left Nazir Ahmed and contracted marriage with Waris Ahmed three months ago. On Saturday, it says, Ahmed and his accomplice broke into Waris Ahmed’s house in his absence and killed Sughra Bibi.

In the other incident in Chak 201 Maroot, Riaz Ahmed allegedly killed his wife Basheeran Bibi and daughter over suspicion of loose morals. The FIR registered on the complaint of Basheeran’s father said Riaz had suspected her of having illicit relations with a neighbour. Police said they were carrying out raids to arrest the suspect.
