A delegation of Pakistani manufacturers of automotive parts and accessories has left for Dubai to take part in the Automechanika Middle East 2012 exhibition. The delegation, under the banner of the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM), hopes to fetch orders worth millions of dollars from their participation in the international expo.
The tenth and largest-ever edition of Automechanika Middle East will take place at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre. The exhibition is scheduled from May 22 to May 24.
The expo will present over 1,300 exhibitors from over 55 countries. A total of 27 delegates representing Pakistan, out of which 10 are exhibitors, are going to participate in the show.
Chairman PAAPAM Nabeel Hashmi has said that participation in the exhibition is part of PAAPAM’s strategy to introduce international markets to its members. It wishes to provide them the opportunity to forge new alliances and business ventures, besides introducing to the world the true commercial and manufacturing diversity of Pakistani companies.
Automechanika is an event geared towards the rapidly developing automotive ‘aftermarket’ – a term used to describe a market for accessories, spare parts and servicing – in the Middle East. The event covers a full range of motor vehicles’ parts; as well as components for the drive, chassis, body, electric and electronic groups, equipment for vehicle service and repair, bodywork repair and painting, tyres, batteries and performance systems.
In Pakistan, the domestic auto industry manufactures motorcycles, cars, tractors, other heavy vehicles like trucks and busses; and also hosts major original equipment manufacturers like Toyota, Honda, Suzuki and Massey Ferguson.

@Bash: "Pakistan has been too much focused on building Al-Khalid Tanks, JF17 Thunder, bullet proof cars etc."
Military has played a huge role in developing industrial base in China and the United States. This base has helped in rapid industrialization of both of these nations.

Pakistan should produce 'small things' first. . Taxila Heavy Industries recently made and exported a whole sugar factory to Brazil and no one knows! We should be making more smaller things that can build our name in household. . Pakistan has been too much focused on building Al-Khalid Tanks, JF17 Thunder, bullet proof cars etc.. Making things like DVD players, TV, Mobile phones etc should be our priority so that we don't have to explain it to people like SHYAM (SEE COMMENT ABOVE).
