Military College of Signals (MCS) organised an open house event at the college campus on Wednesday. Final-year students grabbed the opportunity to display their telecom and software engineering projects, said a press release issued on Saturday.
Over 200 attendees from industry, business and academia were present at the event, which aimed to establish a liaison between institution and industry to find opportunities for future graduates.
MCS Commandant Major General Shahid Maqbool said open houses are a platform for potential employers and graduating students to come closer and share their mutual interests. He applauded the faculty’s efforts in guiding the students to present current trends in research and technology in an exciting and accessible science-fair atmosphere.
Students displayed more than 55 project stalls to exhibit a broad spectrum of practically and commercially viable telecom and software projects. Leading business practitioners and professionals from the corporate industry had set up their recruitment booths. They shared their organisational requirements with students and took interviews.
Chief guest and NUST Rector Engineer Muhammad Asghar said engineering plays a pivotal role in the progress of a nation. Such events, he maintained, reveal that there is no dearth of talent in Pakistan. “Our youth is translating their inquisitive vision into useful innovation.” He also appreciated the efforts of the MCS faculty in organising the event.
