Feet thumped to the beat of the music, as amateur singers and performers entertained the students of the Mass Communication Department at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML).
“We always encourage students to participate in extracurricular activities, to help them enhance their communication skills that ultimately help them be better professionals in future,” said Babar Iqbal, coordinator of the event.
He said that the department also holds other programmes like journalistic sitting, cultural festival, job fairs, seminars, speech and writing contests to help students improve their professional skills.
Irum Shehzadi, studying in the fourth semester, said, “I am sure this tradition will go a long way and will help us in future.”
All arrangements, from decoration of the hall to competitions to radio features and documentaries, were done tastefully.
NUML Rector Maj Gen (R) Masood Hasan, NUML Director General Brig Azam Jamal, heads, deans and faculty members of various departments, students and alumni attended the festival.
Hasan said that media is the fourth pillar of the state and joining this field is both easy and difficult.
“If you want to maintain the status quo as a journalist it is too easy a profession but if you opt to bring about a positive change, it is very difficult and demanding,” he explained.
