Railway track blown up in Quetta

QUETTA: Unknown persons blew up a small portion of a railway track in Pirkani Abad area on Saryab Road in Quetta on Friday.

According to Railway Police, an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was planted along the track in the Pirkani Abad area. As a result of the explosion, one and a half feet portion of the track was blown up.

A heavy contingent of police and security forces reached the spot soon after the explosion and cordoned off the area.

“It was a subversive act to terrify people. Repair work on the damaged track has been concluded,” an official of police said.

According to Pakistan Railway, no train was either coming or leaving for any province from Quetta when the blast took place. Police have started an investigation into the incident.

No group had claimed responsibility for the attack till the filing of this report.
