LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court disposed of an abduction case on Thursday and allowed a couple to go home together after the wife assured the police that she had wed by choice and had not been abducted, as her parents had alleged.

Abida, a resident of Hafizabad, married Amir Sohail against her family’s wishes.

Abida’s family had a case registered against Sohail alleging that he had kidnapped Abida. Sohail moved the Lahore High Court to quash the First Information Report (FIR).

On Thursday, police representatives informed the Lahore High Court that Abida, who was staying at a Darul Amman, had testified that she had not been abducted but had married Sohail because she wanted to.

The police had cancelled the FIR in light of Abida’s statement, the court was told. Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik then disposed of the petition.
