PESHAWAR: One shopkeeper was killed and a passer-by was injured in a bomb blast at Scheme Chowk, Kohat Road on Thursday. The area falls under the jurisdiction of Badaber Police Station.

The blast occurred in a market for second-hand goods.

Initially, police said that it was a gas cylinder explosion, but the Bomb Disposable Squad (BDS) confirmed that it was a bomb blast.

SHO Abidur Rehman told The Express Tribune that the blast occurred in a shop of second-hand engines, which were imported from Afghanistan.  “The explosives were possibly adjusted in one of the appliances. The explosive material was of a few grams,” he said.

The shop’s owner Muhib was injured in the blast. He was shifted to hospital where he died.

A passer-by Israr was also injured in the explosion.
