Former Pakistan hockey captain Mohammad Imran has signed up with the Bangladesh League Hockey for the summer after being continuously overlooked since the home series against China last December.
Imran, who replaced Zeeshan Ashraf as the national captain after the Asian Games triumph, has also been snubbed from the Olympics squad.
“I’m now looking to play league hockey,” the former captain told The Express Tribune. “I used to refuse offers in the past in the interest of the national team but my reward was a snub.” Imran will play for a Dhaka-based team and is set to take part in the Dutch and Malaysian leagues.
“Despite signing up for the leagues, I’m hoping to get a place in the Olympics squad. I have continued training to keep myself fit despite being ignored.”
