Strike: Tools remain down at FESCO
Fesco workers protest against the privatization of the power sector and the appointment of non-engineers as CEOs
FAISALABAD:
Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco) workers and engineers continued their tools-down strike on Tuesday to protest against the potential privatization of the power sector and the appointment of non-engineers as CEOs of power distribution companies. Striking staff locked offices and held protests in front of them. A sit in was held at the Fesco headquarters. Fesco Engineers Association General Secretary Mujahid Pervaiz Chattha demanded that the government withdraw the decision to appoint a non-engineer as Quetta Electric Supply Company (Qesco) chief executive officer.
