KARACHI: Wapda’s Samia Naz clinched gold in the bantamweight event of the ongoing National Taekwondo Championship, while Asia Batool of Army stood first in the welterweight category. Naz beat Sonia Shahzadi of Islamabad to second place, while Anam Azhar finished third to complete the podium. In the other category, Batool outplayed Railways’ Ume Kalsoom and Police’s Rabia Khan who finished second and third respectively. Army lead the 16-team championship followed by Wapda. “It’s always Army and Wapda who do well in taekwondo events,” Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) President Iftikhar Ahmad Tabassum told The Express Tribune. “It’s going to be a tough final day and it can go either way.”
