Pib murders: CID arrests suspect from University Road

The Crime Investigation Department claimed to have apprehended Ali Darwesh, a close aide to Ahmed Ali Magsi.

KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department claimed to have apprehended Ali Darwesh, a close aide to Ahmed Ali Magsi on Monday. Magsi is a prime suspect in the case of murders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s PIB Colony sector committee member Mansoor Mukhtar and his brother Masood Mukhtar. Police seized a hand grenade and a Kalashnikov from Darwesh’s possession.  CID (operations) SSP Fayyaz Khan said that police, acting on a tip-off, picked up the suspect from the main University Road in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Khan said that the accused admitted that he belonged to Magsi’s group and was involved in target killings and attacks on the police. He also disclosed that he ran a narcotics den in PIB Colony.
