Missing persons: Government constitutes special committee

ISLAMABAD: The government has constituted a special committee to resolve the issue of missing persons.

Speaker National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza issued an order to constitute the committee on Monday, while a notification to this effect has also been issued by the National Assembly Secretariat.

Mirza constituted the special committee in pursuance of the resolution adopted by the National Assembly on March 14, 2012.

The special committee has been mandated to investigate the issue of missing persons. The committee will comprise of MNA Abdul Qadir Patel, Dr Attiya Inayatuallh, Sajid Ahmed, Himayatullah Mayar, Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch, Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan, Naseer Bhutta and Maulana Attaur Rehman.

The decision regarding the appointment of a chairperson of the committee as well as its first meeting will be taken within three days. The committee will proceed with the cases of missing persons and will hear the concerned authorities regarding the issue.

These are NOT MISSING persons; they are all ABDUCTED persons.
