The Multi Agency Centre (MAC) had forwarded the same alert received from the RAW along with photographs of the five alleged Pakistani terrorists to the police on May 6, 2012, Indian media reported.
After the report surfaced in the Indian media, The Express Tribune and Express News had traced all five men, and found out that they all belonged to Lahore and have been working at the famed electronics market, Hafeez Centre, for over four years.
The men were identified as Atif Butt, Mehtab Butt, Baber Shabbir , Nadeem Malik and Amjad Ali Khan. Four of them are shopkeepers/traders while Shabbir works as a security guard for the last five years at Hafeez Centre.
The Indian IB had ordered an enquiry on Thursday while RAW’s chief SK Tripathi, after meeting with Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram on Saturday ordered a probe on the issue.
While ordering an enquiry, the RAW chief sought explanations from the supervisor who had generated the 'false' alert and directed him to hold all those people responsible who generated the alert.
He also forwarded the same directions to other agencies and police.
The inquiry team will also investigate why this secret alert report was leaked to the media. The team was directed to check the role of Pakistani Intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence behind this episode to “defame India” as well as their agencies, sources said.

The gullible ex-PM Inder Kumar Gujral was responsible for the rollback of RAW's presence in Pakistan and now we have to pay for sexed-up information.
I am sure india is behind much of the troubles in pakistan.. pakistani people have suffered over years becoz of the war on there borders n india wuldnt let go ny chance to exploit pakistan.. a neutral point of view
hahaha........ISI phobia......when indians intelligence agents will grow-up :)
And Pakistanis blame India for trouble in Balochistan........do you really think Indian intelligence is that capable ????? :)
Has the Indian intelligence agencies got so advanced to to spot future potential terrorists?
No reason for RAW to feel embarrassed. Better safe than sorry.
This would have been a well-planned operation - Indian intelligence would have released the information based on the quality of the informant and other corroborating evidence, and have been made to look rather silly now. Still, better safe than sorry, I would say that they need to do the same again if such information is made available. At least we don't have 10 people dying in bomb blasts every day in our country.
@jack, that is no concern at all especially in this day and age.
Pakistani's should be concernd how there photos got into indian inteligence hand all from the same place....
I would like to share a joke with Express Tribune, In one court room, someone passed gas, judge looked at the audiance, all audience shook heads right and left indicating they did not pass gas, then judge looked at the criminal, Criminal said to Judge in punjabi "Judge Sb. Ai wi meray utay paa de oo" add this gas pass act to his crimes.
Indian media does not spare a second to spread false news against Pakistan. Indian government should not try to defame Pakistan.
A classic case: misinform the Indian informant and discredit both the informant and informed. Casualty: the Indian informant(s).
The approach has value as long as the informed agency does not know that the information is a misinformation. The strategy backfires once the informed knows that it was misinformed.
PAK casualty: the merchants. The PAK people should be concerned how their photos get to the Indian side.
Pakistani ISI is not capable of conjuring this kind of dis-info. The Indian authorities were probably fed this info and photos by RAW to do a real time test of preparations.
some double agent??? where is "agent vinod"???
Pakistani Intelligence agency Inter-Services Intelligence is behind this episode to defame India.
