Target killing: 2 killed, 2 injured in Bahadurabad
Two of the victims, identified as Maulana Aslam Sheikhupuri and Maulana Hasan Aziz, succumbed to their injuries, whereas their security guards were in a critical state.
According to sources, the deceased were affiliated with a religious party.
The injured were shifted to Jinnah Hospital. Police arrived at the scene to collect evidence and conduct investigations.
Following the incident, businesses and shops closed down in the area due to fear.
Four more killed across the city
Four more people were killed across the city during the day. Two bodies were found in Landhi, wherein one was identified as Shah Faisal.
In Khokhrapar, Rajab Ali’s body was found wrapped up in a blanket.
Meanwhile in the Mominabad area of Orangi, unidentified assailants shot dead one person, identified as Imran, while injuring his wife Kehkashan.
Police have not yet made any arrests in the following incidents.

The article states:
If you do not state the name of the party, you are contributing in the continued violence in the City. You are not serving your readers by not naming the party these two men were affiliated with, and your job as a reporter is to interview acquaintances and name the people and parties that are suspected by them. You take out a newspaper of an international standard but your reporting does not follow the norms of International reporting. Very disappointed in Express Tribune on this account.
Why no one mentioned that at the end of the news it says that some dead bodies were found as well in sacks and the names couple of names were Shah Faisal and Rajab Ali (they definitely seem shia from their names)...so people who are crying about sunni killing should also read the last paragraph which is enough to shut your mouths when you are winging about so called sunni killing!!!
@Abu Baker... for you the website content may not be extraordinary. People here are sad because a scholar died... and thats it.... A person who was paralyzed (from both his legs) and hadn't been into any religious or political party. pls don't relate it to hindu/muslim/target/kidnappings.
There is no doubt that 'life is sacred' whether it be a hindu or a muslim.
But its human nature that the death of people you are associated to... saddens you more.
Pakistan was created by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah for all people irrespective of cast, creed or religious believes.
But political leaders and mullahs have given a negative image of Pakistan on the world map.
Half of the Pakistan broke down in 1971 after 24 years of its creation when Bangladesh emerged on the world map.
The remaining half is on its way of breaking down.
No political or religious leader is capable to keep the people and the country united under one flag and one banner.
This is why majority of the people in Pakistan think and says that the best suitable rule for Pakistan is the Army Rule which can put the criminals straight.
There will be revenge & this unfortunate action by some sects will not be tolerated. Pakistan & the true Islam will avenge, inshallah!
@sarwat: May Mulla rest in peace, but your statement is far fetched, I read the web site associated with him and did not find anything extraordinary. Yes whole of Pakistan needs to say NO to targeted and mindless killing irrespective of the victim's religious believes, even if a Pakistani Hindu brother is kidnapped or murdered, we should strongly condemn it.

Salaam everybody, in the afternoon I recievd 02 text messages both blaming Shia for the same killing of the greatest scholar of our times but I replied them to please eliminate this allegation with the reason that even if the allegations would be true then the purpose of his killings would be more accomplished by spreading such SMSs. I personally believe that we have left far behind this sectarianism based killings yet that haunt us(by the only enemy of Islam) as the most easiest way to divide the Ummah especially here at sub continent. .. So please beware of the surroundings and dont be so softly exploited your selves !!!!
Most of the comments betray a bias one way or the other. We should be clear on one point: Shias are a minority in this country, greatly outnumbered by Sunnis of various shades of religious opinion. The fact is that Shias seldom, if ever, resort to first strike. The problem of this country is extremism. And extremism in our context is of the Taliban-Lashkare Jhangvi vareity. They are known to claim reposinsibiloity for killings, too, both on religious and political ground. What they don't seem to appreciate is that such killings never solved any problem. And if anyone thinks the Shias or any other minority has a hand in Maulana Aslam's killing, think again. Many of the killings of the Sunnis maulanas and aalims have been shown to be the handiwork of aforementioned extremists!! Very often, they have owned up to it themselves What do such elements really want? Do they want a country where everyone should belong to one denomination only--their own! Even if this came true by some miracle, they would still be on the rampage, because they would find some other reason to cause division oppose and kill.
Are not moderates killed by extremists of their own camp ? This is an old practice to clear the ground. The two scholars paid a price for suing for harmony between Shias and Sunnis.

He was not affiliated with any religious or political party. Also, from the standpoint of fair journalism it is important that you report with correct facts. Please do not try to turn-down the significance of this man & his martyrdom.
@rafiq: well if Shia are killed unjust then there will be noise(which you don't like), because they are part and parcel of our society, also you are lying about Iranian influence because ET has nothing to do with Iran. Unlike Lashkar e Jhangvi and Taliban no Shia has claimed responsibility for these murders. We all know Deobandis have problem with Shia but majority of Pakistanis are none violent.

Maulana Aslam Sheikhupuri was the foudation of darsequran.com, may Allah shower his blessing upon the martyrs. It's a great shock for a noble cause.

Maulana Sheikhupura is a highly respected Sunni Fiqh scholar, since ET loves running screaming headlines about which minority Shia, Ahmedi, Christians killed (even before the police can establish it was a personal or sectarian motive) Why doesnt ET run bold headlines now? Also please note Sheikhupura was only a scholar and not affiliated with any religious or political parties!!!
