The Isaf delegation was led by Commander Isaf General John Allen and Pakistan Army delegation by Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, a statement released by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The Isaf delegation arrived for the most significant talks that Pakistan has hosted with the international military alliance and the Afghan military for a year, in a sign that tensions between Pakistan and the US are easing.
The ISPR statement said that the talks focused on operations in border areas and coordination mechanisms to avoid untoward incidents in the future.
The tripartite meeting, between Kayani, Allen and Afghan military chief General Sher Muhammad Karimi, will be the first since Nato airstrikes on a Pakistani security forces check post near the Afghan border which resulted in the deaths of 24 soldiers last November.
“The tripartite commission is expected to meet after the arrival of Afghan army chief, General Sher Muhammad Karimi on Sunday,” a senior security official told AFP.
He said the date and time of the commission’s meeting will be disclosed later.
The commission will focus on enhancing measures along the Pak-Afghan border and to improve cooperation at operational and tactical levels, the military said.

@Adeel759: Just tells how good they are in running Pakistan and their present predetermine.
these talks are held on regular basis between Pakistan,ISAF and Afghan security forces..many issues wil be discussed regarding the ongoing operations in Afghanistan as a matter of routine..this is not a forum of threatening someone or putting demands..the real test will be the Chicago Summit of Nato where Pakistan will have to show its stance it has taken over the months on issues in circulation and to defend its stance..USA will undoubtedly be belligerent and may say something or have something said by any nato member that may cause friction between Pakistan and USA in the summit but it will be a game of patience and nerves..Pakistan must never accept any demand to engage our troop in North Waziristan or to engage in the vendetta with Haqqanis..Pakistan should think broad and take care of its objectives.. Pakistan must also raise the issue of Indian involvement in the destabilization of Balochistan. Pakistan should be stiff when demand of expulsion of Hafiz Saeed comes from USA.. the rest TTP, Baloch insurgents and other militant groups must be crushed at any cost whether USA demands or not...General Kiyani will surely raise of issue of Baloch insurgents training camps in Afghanistan being run with the assistance and full backing of India and Northern Alliance.

@Checkmate: You are not far of the mark ! This guy is cornered and knows it too ! Yet, he knows, that elements within Army have been radicalised to the extent, that his own position may not be secured !
General has no option, but to comply
general be sincere to all neighbours and not to invaders
sir Kayani have you listen to new threat of Kerry,These rogue American bosses are not sincere to own people, why are making effort on your weekend, smoke out and chill keep them guess.
Waste of time ! When there is serious Lack of Sincerity, to act on behalf of certain Party, as they are more concerned about their Assets. What possibly can these meetings achieve??
"Tripartite commission: Pakistan Army, ISAF hold preliminary meeting"
Where is the third PARTY?
"The tripartite meeting, between Kayani, Allen and Afghan military chief General Sher Muhammad Karimi, "
Any meeting of more than two can not be between the two but among all the participants more than two.
General, holding these bilateral talks without apology is a disgrace.
