ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police will conduct fresh surveys in all police stations’ jurisdictions to get first hand information about tenants or others residing in various areas. The decision was made by Islamabad Inspector General of Police Bani Amin in a meeting held to review security in the city. The IG also emphasised the need to check slum areas. Amin said that city will become more secure through the measure and directed SHOs to involve notables of their areas in this process. He also ordered high vigilance at police pickets, especially in hilly areas, and strict checking of suspects. He said that local people residing around the Margalla Hills should be involved in the combing and scrutiny process. He directed all police officials to enhance security around banks and to coordinate with bank staff. He categorically asked all SHOs to launch crackdowns against gambling dens, immoral activities and narcotics peddlers.
