Shattered by his snub from all three squads for the tour of Sri Lanka, experienced all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has blamed former coaches Waqar Younis and Mohsin Khan for ‘ruining’ his career.
Razzaq, who has played 265 One-Day Internationals and 46 Tests, has not featured for Pakistan since the series against Sri Lanka in the UAE last year, missing the series against Bangladesh, England and the Asia Cup.
“I can easily play for another couple of years,” said Razzaq. “Waqar and Mohsin were against me and were actively seeking my exit. They didn’t use me properly and used to send me at eighth or ninth position in the batting line-up. You can’t perform when there are just a couple of overs remaining and you often get dismissed while attempting big shots.
“And the selectors based the snub on those performances. The experts at the Pakistan Cricket Board should realise the ground realities of my below-par performance. They should also consider the past record of a player before selection.”
Mohsin rejects criticism
Meanwhile, Mohsin, who coached Pakistan on three assignments, rejected the criticism against him.
“Razzaq has played just one series under me as coach,” Mohsin told The Express Tribune. “How he can justify his outburst based on just that is beyond me.”

Razzaq is past his good days and seeing him run on a cricket field is a torture, but i still feel he should be given a chance in ODIs, he is too slow for T20Is. And btw he should stop pointing fingers at people and look at his own fitness and performances, when Waqar was near the end of his career, he was still picking up 6'fors and 7'fors and was a very good outfielder. Stop blaming people like Afridi does, although Afridi can get away with it with his consistent performances.
Razzaq is far better alrounder than Hammad Azam, Sohail Tanvir and Yasir Arafat who has been selected in the Pakistani Team despite of their poor performances.. This really shows that selection in Pakistani Team is purely based on Parchi System. The best example for that is selection of Imran Farhat in the team..
Razzaq is an amazing player how can they forget what he did to south africa he certainly deserves a chance to prove himself, he can bowl and bat exceptionally well, i have always thought of him as a great player, he is enthusiastic and has the right attitude just the same with kamran akmal both great player who should get a chance to prove how great they are.
razzaq you should improve your performance.your bowling is below par.you are out of form.look at azhar mehmood.he is performing.you should start bowling yorkers and bouncers.change your game your batting strategy.look for singles and doubles.you cant wait till end to just hit boundaries.
Well, I'm a fan of Razzaq, but a couple of months ago he said in an interview that he is NOT fit enough to play even 50 over matches, he said he can play T20s (which I believe he was playing at that time in BPL) because it just demands a couple of overs of play from a player.
And now he's pointing fingers everywhere.
Razzaq simply deserve a place in the one day line up & as well as in the T20.
How can he been ignored with so much of cricket left in him.
Razzaq is the best ever fast bowling allrounder after Imran & Wasim.
Assume Razzaq had gone to South Africa like Imran Tahir did, still he could have represented SA.
Razzaq is the best all rounder in the world for T20. He lost his pace but he is deceptive as he has a good slow ball. we have not used him, give him confidence and then see the result.
Why dont you accept you have passed your expiry date? Check your fitness and fielding before badmouthing in media
