Polio Seminar: Cleric in flip-flop over vaccine

Running a polio campaign is a humane act however scholars have reservations that it causes impotency, says a cleric.

PESHAWAR: Religious scholar Mulana Muhammad Yousaf Qureshi expressed his reservation on polio immunisation during a seminar in Peshawar on Thursday. Yousaf during a seminar on “Polio Eradication campaign and endorsement by Muslim scholars” said “running a polio campaign is a humane act however scholars have reservations that it causes impotency”. Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Khateeb Qari Nurrullah, in favour of polio vaccination said that the vaccine had been tested at various laboratories across the Muslim world  including Saudi Arabia and Egypt and was declared safe. The seminar was arranged by members of UNICEF and World Health Organisation, religious scholars from all over the province were invited to promote polio eradication awareness.
