Tragedy: Assault victim dies of injuries

HARIPUR: A teenage boy who was stabbed after being sexually assaulted died of his injuries at Ayub Medical Complex (AMC) in Abbottabad on Wednesday evening. According to the Garhi Habibullah police in Mansehra, Shan*, a student of intermediate first year, recorded his statement from the hospital that he was on his way to a nearby village on April 25 when Hakeem* tricked him into going to an under construction house with him and sexually assaulted him. When he tried to put up resistance, Hakeem allegedly stabbed him with a knife and left him in a septic tank of the same house. Shan later managed to get out from the tank, from where local villagers took him to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital in Mansehra. He was then referred to AMC Abbottabad for further treatment; however, he could not survive. The police had arrested Hakeem on the second day of the incident on charges of unnatural offence.
