Corruption: SDO arrested on graft charges

Rathore allegedly awarded the project’s contract on nepotism and took millions of rupees as bribes

MIRPUR: A sub divisional officer of Muzaffarabad Municipal Corporation was arrested on charges of corruption on Wednesday. According to Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Ehtesab Bureau spokesperson, Jamil Anjam Rathore was arrested for allegedly receiving millions of rupees as kickbacks in a project to remove rubble caused by the earthquake in 2005. The spokesperson said Rathore allegedly awarded the project’s contract on nepotism and took millions of rupees as bribes which he used to buy a residential building in Muzaffarabad, the capital city of AJK. The spokesperson said that investigations into the case are underway and the other suspects will be arrested soon.
