Property dispute: Govt’s reply sought in MNA’s case
Butt, through his counsel, submitted that he had bought a house in Model Town from one Rahat Bibi.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Monday took serious notice of registration of an FIR against MNA Umar Sohail Zia Butt for allegedly occupying a house illegally and sought an explanation from the government till May 18. Butt, through his counsel, submitted that he had bought a house in Model Town from one Rahat Bibi. He said she later accused him of illegally occupying the house. He said the court had restrained police from taking any action against him, but police had gone ahead and registered a case against him. The investigation officer told the court that the case had been registered on the direction of the chief minister. Not satisfied, the judge observed, “Since when has police become more obedient to the chief minister than the courts?” Butt requested the court to direct the police to drop the case.
