Wheat: ‘Procurement starts in Jhang’

Food Department has started wheat procurement at 15 centres set up in Jhang, District Food Controller

FAISALABAD: Food Department has started wheat procurement at 15 centres set up in Jhang, District Food Controller Chaudhary Abdul Ghafoor said on Monday. He was speaking to the media during a visit to review distribution of gunny bags at procurement centres in Jhang-1, Jhang-II and Jhang-III. Besides these, centres are set up in Koriyana, Mochiwala, Chak No170-JB and Shah Jewana; four in Shorkot tehsil (Shorkot City, Shorkot Cantt, Waryam and Rustam Sargana); three in Ahmadpur Sial (Ahmadpur Sial, Garh Mor and Kot Bahadar); and one in 18-Hazari tehsil. The DFC said 171,000 metric tons of wheat would be procured in the district. The target for distribution of gunny bags is set at 1,710,000 bags. Of these, 260,948 bags have already been distributed to 1,869 farmers. He said farmers should ensure that the moisture content in the wheat they bring to the centres was in accordance with the standards set by the department.
