LAHORE: A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking action against a lawyer who allegedly threw a shoe at a civil judge in Faisalabad last week. Earlier, the LHC registrar’s office had returned the plea with the objection that the petitioner had not stated the names of the accused lawyer and the civil judge. Petitioner Rana Shahid, who is a lawyer, removed the objection and refiled it. Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed is scheduled to hear the plea today (Tuesday). The petitioner said that Advocate Chaudhry Maqsood hit Civil Judge Asad Ali with a shoe, but the sessions judge nor the District Bar Association had taken action against the lawyer. He said the “ugly incident” had hurt the court’s dignity and sought penal action against the lawyer.
