FAISALABAD. The bail application of an ASI accused of taking a bribe to release a wanted man from custody was accepted on Saturday. Magistrate Sajawal Khan granted bail to ASI Arslan Bari, who had arrested and released murder suspect Anwar alias Roda, a resident of Phalahi village, from Khurarianwala. Roda was wanted for the murder of five people in 2010. Bari was arrested after City Police Officer (CPO) Bilal Siddique Kamyana had ordered an inquiry into the incident that found ASI Bari guilty. ASI Bari claimed that he had not known Roda was wanted for murder and had released him due to his poor health.
