Gilani was addressing the officer bearers of the Lahore Press Club at his residence on Sunday, wherein he awarded Rs10 million to the club.
Speaking about his disqualification as prime minster, he briefed the gathering on the process, saying that if the court disqualified him in the detailed judgment, then the ultimate decision would be taken by the speaker National Assembly (NA).
The prime minister vowed that he would not tender his resignation.
Gilani added that according to the constitution, the speaker has to send a reference to the Election Commission of Pakistan and if the speaker decides against disqualification then she is empowered not to send the reference to the ECP.
The prime minister vowed to contest the matter in court, adding that if his resignation was the only amicable solution to this issue, then he would immediately resign.
He said that he was an elected prime minister and only parliament could remove him.
However the prime minister said that it was the opposition’s right to bring a resolution against him but none could remove him illegally and unconstitutionally.
Gilani added that all the bar councils in the county has endorsed PPP’s stance after his conviction which was to appeal in court after the detailed judgement.
Bashing the PML-N
According to the PM media office, he said that he and President Asif Ali Zardari had faced a dictator (Musharraf) with courage while Nawaz Sharif left the country under an agreement with Musharraf.
Gilani lashed out at the Sharif bothers saying that the PPP leadership would always confront a dictator while the Sharif brothers would again flee from the country.
He said that the PML-N leadership wanted to enjoy the benefits of being in the opposition and of being in power in the Punjab.
"If the PML-N leadership has courage then they should resign from the assemblies and I will announce by-polls on the same day," he challenged.
Criticising the PML-N’s decision to carry out a long march, Gilani said that Nawaz had signed a charter of Charter of Democracy (CoD), and this act was contrary to it.
He said that his son could hold bigger rallies then the PML-N.
On the Kargil issue, he said that Nawaz Sharif had left Pakistan for US where he signed a deal over the Kargil issue.
On the energy issue, Gilani said that Punjab government was not implementing decisions taken in the energy conference, which was regrettable.

I am sure that Gilani will not be able to win from his own constituency in the coming elections. PPP will never come to power again. They are the most corrupt people in the history of Pakistan. Allah save Pakistan from Zardari, Gilani and PPP.
PPP is ready to save $ 60 Million of Zardari even if PML-N & PTI get together. Whole politics and every statement of PPP leaders for the last 4 years revolve around saving the $ 60 Million of Zardari.
PTI & DPC will unleash Tsunami on Pakistan. PPP & PML will disappear inshallah!
I don't know why I feel that the present set-up will again form its government not only in center but also in Punjab provided if joint venture between the establishment and SC does not think other-way around. If unfortunately all political/religious parties does not stop going personal and using muscle power then no one can stop introduction of Technocratic Government which may last for not less than a decade.
Dil behlanay ko ghalib khayal accha hai :)
Correction:
even if PPP and PTI 'continue' to be together, PML N will bec ready to face them in the upcoming elections.
If the President wants him to go ..........he'll be gone tomorrow.
i wonder if ppp will survive for long as they they have crossed the limits of bad governance and corruption in this tenure.
@Junaid Atique: Gilani is not a military dictator, he is the elected PM of the country. No comparison here.
@Convict Jee.....bite as much as you can swallow.....remember bhutto...he said 'meri kursi mazboot hai'....the world than knows what happened to him and kursi both..
Look at his chair and look at his aristocratic pose. He is the prime minister of a poor nation but his arrogance is Sky high and he behaves like a king. Mr.Zrdari in contrast looks humble.
But Imran Khan has already said it several times that no deal can be struck with PML-N right? Oh but wait, he also said no corrupt leaders would be accepted into PTI too .. not much of a man of his word.
Yep, I see what you mean Mr Gillani.
PTI is not allowed to join PML(N). That's what Imran has been told. His job is to damage PML(N)'s reputation as much as possible. In media he is doing great job but in reality he is damaging himself. After elections, we will not hear anything about him, not even in media.
My convicted PM of Pakistan, you have had your time and you looted with your two big hands. You will see what happens in the upcoming elections.PTI will sweep through you easily :)
@Wasim Irfan:
All the big media groups are based in karachi and have their headquarters in karachi, that's why you won't ever see the injustices being done to punjab highlighted or talked about on tv. The economy of punjab has been deliberately ruined over the last four years by the federal govt.
Digging his own grave along with the party.
@Kaleem: Exactly.Punjab has been deprived of gas and electricity for the last four years. This discriminatory treatment towards punjab by the federal govt. is disturbing. The loadshedding in karachi is less than 20% of what it is in punjab. In the winter gas supplies were cut off, destroying punjab's industries. The media has remained silent over the injustice and cruelty done to punjab by the ppp over the last four years.
COD...COD...COD...says Pakistan Khappay Man, alluding to NS constant harping. NS and the PMLN have been beaten to the pulp by AZ's politics. Nevertheless politics is the art of seizing the moment. NS has a good opportunistic sense. In spite of all the pressure he was able to test the nuclear devices that no other man would have done. He has also seized upon the SC verdict giving him a reason to force an early election because of PPP's unpopularity, with a nod from the GHQ. Gilani is betting on becoming a martyr, but he must remember that regardless of him charting PMLN and PTI fortunes its PPP's fortune that look more miserable..
When the misgovernance and financial misdeeds are exposed,it's time to start blaming others and demonising the biggest province to distract the public. Divide and rule is an age old strategy used by rulers to remain in power, the present ppp govt. is doing the same, they've targetted punjab to be broken up to punish it for voting for pml-n.
Punjab govt not acting on energy conference decisions? or is it you who deprived lahore of electricity more than 12 hours today. Regrettable PM.
The only thing that matters is staying in power. When the govt's corruption is caught, they play the Sindh card and promote the division of pakistan along ethnic lines. This racist mentality being promoted by the ruling party is weakening pakistan.
Mush said the same words in 2007.. And Entire Nation see what happened.
