ISLAMABAD: A fashion show and rock concert named “Fashion with Passion - A Tribute to Pakistan” was held at the Shakarparian open air theatre on Saturday.

The charity event was organised by Akash Media to pay tribute to the independence of Pakistan.

Upcoming artists and singers including Shumaila Hussain, Shan Khan, Pukar , Zujj, Nauman Khan Lashari, Farhan Khan, Desi Edict and Talaash performed at the event.

Later, models walked the ramp showcasing the work of some of Islamabad’s upcoming designers.

Yasmeen Siddiqui, an Islamabad-based fashion designer, exhibited her collection which included traditional, casual and evening wear.

Munaza Ikram, a graduate of the University of Creative Arts in London, showcased her designs as well, which included her Eid collection, contemporary evening wear and a bridal collection.

This was Ikram’s fifth show in the capital and she aspires to make it to Pakistan Fashion Week some day.

“So far it has been a good experience and I have always managed to increase sales after my shows. I am displaying a mix-and-match of colourful textured fabrics with interesting cuts and silhouettes,” she said.

Designers Sahar and Aneeza displayed their line of unique geometrical motifs and colour contrasts while Ameer Saeed exhibited his traditional bridal dresses.

“Just like in Lahore and Karachi, there should be a fashion week in Islamabad too. Such events promote the fashion industry,” said Mehru, one of the models.

Profits from the fashion show will go to the International Fashion Designing Council’s charity fund.

This is the third event organised by Akash Ali, project director of the management team, in Islamabad.

“We had a problem coordinating with the Capital Development Authority last time, as they had committed but then backed out at the last minute without arranging a venue for us,” said Ali.
