The PML-N had earlier announced the commencement of its protest movement against Gilani for his refusal to step down after being convicted in a contempt case.
In Gujranwala, rally organisers made arrangements for around 8,000 to 10,000 people.
According to Express News correspondent Atta Chauhan, the people gathered at the venue protested against the government by burning effigies, with unruly members of the crowd causing problems at the rally spot.
Members of the PML-N youth wing also had a fight with the rally organisers when they tried to get on the stage. The youth wing members were pushed off the stage and told to stay away from it.
Media boycott Karachi rally
PML-N also organised an anti-government rally at the Karachi Press Club. PML-N leaders Saleem Zia, Marvi Memon and Mushahid Ullah were present with other members of the party.
According to Express News correspondent Quratul Ain the rally was poorly organised and had turned chaotic. Media personnel were also mistreated and decided to boycott the rally.
The PML-N also took out a protest rally in Peshawar.

@Muhammad Ilyas: may be PML-N is incompetent
What else can we expect from the dagga party?!
@Muhammad Ilyas: That's a good point. Spineless media would not dare boycott MQM.
@Imran: Why should PML N resign???? Get a life !
@ Chaudhry Allah Dad I'm having a really hard time to understand how PML N managed to save democracy. Not boycotting the NRO election, electing Zardari as the president, then after 4 years all of a sudden realizing that Zardari is corrupt. It's a joke. Hopefully people of Pakistan have finally realized that neither PPP nor PML N have any interest in bringing this country out of turmoil. They both are masters of taking turns and looting this country. Imran Khan has truly emerged as a national leader and seems to be the only wise option left !!!
Why do majority of the people in the thread are doing it wrong grammatically?
LOLz!!!
Manafakat !!! If they really mean to do something against Gillani .... Resign from NA and then do the Protest ..... They want to play double role ....... People can't be fooled .....
After the death of Mr Liaqat Ali Khan ML disintegrated into various factions. You can prefix of suffix any alphabet with ML it will be a Muslim League of that faction. Muslim League was never an organized party from 1952 onward. Mumtaz Daulatana and Nawab Mamdot started it and thereafter it is a history known to every body. PML (N) stabbed Mohammad Khan Junejo and this party was initially nurtured in GHQ by Zia ul Haq an orthodox Wahabi who preached his version of Islam just to remain in power. Since then the religion has been used and misused according to the convenience of the Rulers. Every where in the world new blood is pumped in the politics NOT in Pakistan. In Pakistan a couple of families want to dominate in the Politics and hence the political movements frustrates or disintegrates.
PML N is the only party who can save the nation from the darkness prevailed by Musharaf and PPP.
The only blame PML(N) had was that it has become a friendly opposition and attitude it shows towards PPP is Noora Kushti. Other than that voters had nothing against PML(N). Whatever PML(N) did was in best interest of democracy. PML(N) tolerated all blames, gave PPP enough time and space and now stand tall in the eyes of democratic forces. All other undemocratic forces will disappear from political horizon in coming days.
as the old sayin goes an empty bottle makes alot of noise
@Khalq e Khuda: PTI is dominating (I mean it) in KPK and #1 (but not "dominating") in Balochistan, whereas #2 in Sind and Punjab. PTI in fact, is the only national party now : PPP limited to some nostalgic of Bhutto Sindhis and PML-N in Punjab.
"whenever i think about pmln, i get laugh, they don’t know how to do the politics." ayaz bukharian Sir, A party which has won record two third majority in federal elections and has won all elections in Punjab does not know how to do politics. Please replace PML(N) with PTI, otherwise people will laugh at you.
what else u expect frm PMLN :) they are disorganized
@Muhammad Ilyas:
PTI is also from Punjab I think, and media is biased in its favor!
PMLN is a disgrace to the country.
That didn't happen in Imran's jalsa and Musharraf jalsa though!@Abdul Moiz:
they are not disorganised like PTI they do not leave even chairs
Disorganised. Nothing new for N league. Nothing new for the mindset of the majority.
Lol im sorry to say but PMLN is a shambles getting exposed!
whenever i think about pmln, i get laugh, they don't know how to do the politics. they are opposing the govt by doing rallies and addresses. its prediction of mine, it is not far, when they will be calm down, and get sit with Govt, in making of the up-comming caretaker setup. pmln can not go beyond at that level from where they would not come again.
Yeah, that'll get Gillani out of office....
Wonder if there would ever have been a boycott by journalists if it was a rally by a karachi based party.Accusations of disorganisation always crop up when a non-karachi party holds a rally in karachi.
There's a definite media bias against pml-n be it in print or electronic media.Perhaps it's due to the fact that nawaz sharif is from punjab and being a punjabi is not the best thing for popularity amongst pakistani media people.
So the it's nothing but 'hot air' ----- now they can 'break some wind' and make sure it's laud enough to match their screams.
