According to an official statement, DHO Ziarat Dr Maqbool Ahmed and DHO Khuzdar Dr Mohammad Ayub Bajoi were suspended as they failed to effectively run the anti-polio campaign in their respective areas.
“Balochistan is the worst affected region, and negligence would not be tolerated particularly during the anti-polio drive,” chief secretary stated.
DHO Harnani was handed over additional charge of Ziarat while DHO Kalat was given additional charge of Khuzdar district.
According to official sources, at least 15 polio cases have so far been reported in Pakistan, including two from Balochistan’s capital Quetta.
Three day anti-polio campaign will kick off by May 7 in three highly effective districts of Balochistan –Quetta, Pishin and Killa Abdullah. Earlier, anti-polio drive was started in 27 districts of Balochistan.
As many as 198 polio case had been reported in Pakistan in 2012 and Balochistan topped with 73 cases.

Maybe the people are afraid of vaccines, and their side effects. I understand that after the the vaccination drive in India, there were 47,500 new cases of paralysis. Seems like the the cure is worse than the disease.
