Ministry of Water and Power claims that Ministry of Petroleum has assured to provide 100 mmcfd gas from imported LNG to produce 320MW from UAE gifted plant.
The Ministry of Water and Power said in a statement issued on Thursday that after commitment from the petroleum ministry, formal procedure is being completed to receive the 70 million euro loan from European Investment Bank for the project.
The spokesperson added that the former ruler of UAE had donated the power plant of 320MW to the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari in view of his efforts to overcome the energy crisis in the country.
The government has decided to set up this power plant at Faisalabad to meet the growing demand of the textile industry. Short listings of prequalification of companies have been completed and contract will be awarded soon for installing the power plant.
