Coke Studio 5 begins May 13
Coke Studio mastermind, Rohail Hyatt is back at the helm and this season will feature Atif Aslam, Bilal Khan, Bohemia, Chakwalis, Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad, Hadiqa Kiyani, Humayun Khan, Meesha Shafi, Tahir Mithu, Overload, Qayaas, SYMT and Uzair Jaswal.
The house band will include Asad Ahmed on guitar, Babar Ali Khanna on dholak, Javed Iqbal on violin, Kamran ‘Mannu’ Zafar on bass, Omran ‘Momo’ Shafique on guitar, Sikander Mufti on multi-percussions and Rachel Viccaji and Zoe Viccaji on backing vocals.
There will also be two new inductees in the house band - Farhad Humayun on drums and Mubashir Admani on keyboards.
The highlight of this season will be songs in regional languages. The young artists will discover their heritage by incorporating parts of Sufi poetry and philosophy in their music and writing.

Never heard of Chakwalis?......Bohemia will be the best thing in my view as he is one of the famous international singers of Punjabi Rap and a Lahoria as well and people will love it.

Coke studio's production quality is getting better season by season but they also losing its essence as well, just to bring sanam marvi, atif aslam, noori, again and again will not help, they are not doing anything different now they will still do the fusion but any way one thing i like about them is they are not forgetting our legends.
Feel so proud of Coke Studio the original made in pakistan not a copy :)
Rohail Sb, if Coke could also spend on Artists who are class, but gone old and suffering, they still can perform, if they are given chance as it is really sad to see them dying of hunger and frustration..one of such artist, Akber Khan a class Sitar Player..Pride of performance winner..
How about some Pashto sungs this time? Every other Pakistani language has been covered.
