“We will wait until the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) completes the process of Gilani’s disqualification, said Imran, adding his party doesn’t consider him the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Speaking during a press conference, Imran also acknowledged Gilani’s right to appeal against the court verdict and said that the party will respond only after all the legal processes are completed.
Gilani was convicted on April 26 with contempt of court charges for not writing a letter to reopen corruption cases against President Asif Ali Zardari.
The chairman of PTI also said that he would talk to Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) only if their members resign from government in the centre and in Punjab.
Imran further announced that a three-member committee consisting of PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi, PTI President Javed Hashmi and Dr Arif Alvi has been formed to hold talks with leaders of different political parties regarding future course of action.

lol! we can sure of 2 things. 1. Gilani will not step down. 2. IK at his best will create ruckus destabilizing everything some hartal and jalsa will take place. good for scoring brownie points but not good for commoners.
Any Real Action of Sunammi Khan yet to be seen.
Nawaz Shairf is a businessman politician and whole his family assets increasing after every Govt they enjoyed as they are enjoying Punjab Govt, Imran Khan is one and only trust able person who will make sure not looting money by himself or any other his team members, examples are with in front of us in shape of cricket, cancer hospital, namal university and IK foundation. IK credibility is very high than any other person, no body can touch him. Mian Sajjad Hyder
One finds your headline a bit misleading. Mr. Imran Khan, very sensibly, has said that the legal process (appeal, Speaker's decision, Election Commission notification) will be allowed to run its full course before he launches his protest. This is unlike the politically defunct PML-N which as usual has taken an unjustified and unreasonable stand of starting a 'long march' without waiting for even the detailed judgment of the Supreme Court. It seems that the PML-N is at the end of it's wits and wants Prime Minister Gillani out for supporting the Seraiki Province. The PML-N fails to understand that if the appeal of the Prime Minister succeeds - and there is, theoretically at least, a 50% chance that it will - the Prime Minister will not remain a convict just as Mian Nawaz Sharif is no longer a convict after remaining one for over 9 years. The fact that he has 'served his sentence will become irrelevant. Please note that I said theoretically at least because in fact we know that the Most Honourable Dry-Cleaned Chief Justice has already written down the final decision.
For this good cause both PML-N and PTI should join their hands together and also future alliance may be considers, politics is an art and do play politics for the JUST cause.
@Imran Bhatt: And the man in the centre is a walking contradiction but he is doing Zardari's bidding by dividing opposition.
Imran, finally woke up from long sleep, but Nawaz Sharif has taken the lead. Mian Sahib is already on top of the things, Imran should join with him to reinforce protest.
Man in the centre, made in GHQ. Man on the right, made in PPP and man on the left, made in PML. Is there no one who is made in PTI?
Just wait for the detailed Judgment of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, there would be answers to each and every questions of PPP's so called intelectuals.
@Salma: To prove your claim, ask your party to hold even a small jalsa in Quetta. Once you've done that then you have the right to criticize the party who had the guts and ability to do it.
Only person or party happy at the situation, is Mr. Zardari and PPP. I have always seen Mr. IK criticizing Nawaz more than Zardari. His point is that PMLN contested election in 2008 despite APDM byecott. Now consider the scenario if PML (N) had not contested election then NRO would have been endorsed by PPP and PML(Q). PTI has always refused to contest elections like recent by-elections. I think, Mr. Zardari is capable of playing such a tactic that will lead to another byecott by PTI and my worst nightmare is another tenure of PPP and Zardari. this is highly likely with current divide of opposition parties. Kindly rise above the personal likes and dislike and try to develop a consensus.
this act exposed imran khan and i knew this newspaper is too have same views. no wonder why imran said this. he is already did it. just map his statements before lhore jalsa. now people like gillani are supporting him, unfortunate for PPP. it is funny state of affairs at all.
@salma. what planet are you from ppp is finished its over! imran is justice he will deliver he is charismatic and totally sincere he is the captain end off
Dun trust NS coz both Nawaz n Zrdari hv hand in gloves n dey r the two sides of the same coin Mian sb plz stop these election gimmicks v knw u. Nawaz Zardari bhai bhai.....Mulk bachai ge PTI (InshahAllah)
long live imran khan! long live PTI! Ameen.
Copying PMLN's stance.......
CH Shujaat: “Nawaz Sharif talks of a long march but has forgotten that March has passed and it is now May,” hahahahahha what a siyasi bayan
@Azmat: Thanks for your awesome analysis. Congrats!
Most important thing NOT reported above from the press conference is that PTI have already scheduled a rally on 6th May in favour of the supreme court and against PPP.
"large" Mr Khan is trapped in this words large, largest, historic, first one etc etc - I just hope it is not as large (small) and historic (un) as the Quetta Julssa ;-).
i know, Imran will not hold any rally against government, he has not courage to lead such a huge march. Imran Khan's pain for country has been buried with the October 30 mammoth gathering in Lahore. Now he is a politicain without a heart in his body, thinks only for power, whatever it means maybe.
Real Time for Tsunami March & Get Rid of This Corrupt Mafia.
Mr. Imran you need to clarify your stand with DPC first. You need to clean yourself then talk of Pakistan. One hand talking of Pakistan and then flirting with terrorist and criminals. Its Dirty Politics.
warning to Imran khan: don't trust PMLN they are facilitation PPP because they are in partnership since decades... rely only the ordinary masses that's it.
Sensible approach. But they just have to wait for the detailed judgement. As the PM has technically already served his sentence, he does not have the right of appeal to a larger bench. Whether he stands automatically Disqualified or is it at the discretion of the NA Speaker and ECP is another matter. ECP also is waiting for the detailed verdict. I think the courts will have to shed light on this conundrum. 63 1(g) seems clear enough on the issue. But the various contempt Legislation 2003,2004,1973, Do complicate matters. Lets see N leage next move. The real wild card right now is JI which historically has been essential in launching Protest movements. Whether it tilts in favour of PTI or PML N will determine alot. PPP given the pitiful protest it mustered and the ongoing debacle in Lyari is badly exposed. The opposition (Outside the parliament) must use this opportunity to insure Free and fair election
A firm and based on wisdom decision has been taken. Let the legal procedure complete, then action, that is good and right. Speaker's role is remained, election commission will have to play his legal role in the matter then will come to the conclusion. Emotional decision is not favorable for this embattled country and politics.
Judiciary is playing politics, first they did not given the detailed verdict that is still pending to create confusion and gave chance to allied league to warm up the masses for protest and anarchy and keep prevailing uncertain condition in the country till end of Zardari no matter how big losses country have face and will be facing. People are fed up with biased and political judiciary.
@shahid sarwar: Why should PTI join hands with the plundering of PML-N and Mian Incorporated, and become partners in crime. It won't be easy to wash hands off 700 billion dollars stashed in Saudi, Swiss and UK banks.
very sensible decision, as expected...PTI Zindabad...Pakistan Paindabad...we r with u KAPTAN.
Go Imran.....Pakistan needs you.
Go on this protest and I hope every Pakistani joins you
Dun trust PMLN.. they are noora kushti specialist...
PTI Zindabad.. we are with u KAPPTAN...
If both the parties: PML(N) and PTI are sincere in their efforts to make Pakistan a corruption free country they must join hands. They must iron out their differences for a common cause.
opposition parties are not backing pmln. Pml n is in a state of isolation. pti's demand is simple for pml n resign then their can be talks.
in my opinion pti feels it does not need pml n support for a huge march. They have enough public power to do it themselves..
pmln is making their case weaker they called pti establishment party now they want pti to join them...pml n is in a confusion state. Their best bet is to stretch their hand for sincere friendship with pti
@Pakistan politics: Yaar all these are trivial facts that anyone with a sound grip on our politics would know. Totally agree with what you are saying about N league. If they were that serious, they would've done all this a couple years ago. But the problem is that if we waste any more time then it'll be too late! The bottom line is that we cannot accept any more political martyrs in this system. Responsible figures need to be brought to justice before they use their powers to flee the country.
@saleem: stop propagation, u have no right to call anyone a terrorist and i wonder why ET let these comments go publish
PTI Rally in Favour of Judiciary at D- Chawk Islamabad on 6 May 2 pm lead by Imran Khan.
All are requested to attend in favour of judicary
Nawaz Sharif zindabad, Gilani zindabad , Imran Khan zindabad, lets eliminate all religious terrorists and the dafan council
@HRK: fot last 4 years NS saw county burning his party stayed as friendly opposition and his brother was playing circus in punjab, now when u know elections are near PML N has started publicity stunts, both of them have different agenda and mindset, They wont resign and and leave punjab Gov. mark my words and do think about it why they didn't resigned before senate elections or earlier, they all are same
@Pakistan politics: Thanks for your kind advice; I'd take that as "let the country burn while we fight out to determine who gets the medals". If you had cared to read my words, "join hands for once on the action both are planning" means I'm not telling both parties to merge; I'm telling them to at least start the protest and resignations instead of wasting time pointing fingers at each other.
Have a great time bashing each other!
@Maria: he should have stayed here and faced musharaf and courts like Bhutto, but he ran away by signing agreement and fooled the nation for 10 years, very simple hain na???
Whoever has compiled this report, missed out that PTI will hold a "Save Judiciary" rally on 6th May, Sunday as a protest to put pressure on the PM to resign.
For 4 years Nawaz Sharif and his party cosied up with Zardari regime by fooling masses with friendly opposition. But all of a sudden when Imran Khan exposed this devious relationship between the two ruling parties, Nawaz wakes up and wants to join hands with PTI for a long march, dream on Mian Sahib. If you had played a role of real opposition and not have provided your tacit support to this corrupt and NRO government than people would've trusted you but unfortunately that train left the platform and it's called Imran Express!!
Mian Sb. you have one last chance to prove to the masses that you are serious and that is to resign from the centre and punjab assembly and come out on the streets
@HRK: u should read above comments before posting comments, they dont have same agenda and action, and most of all PML N has a history of backstabbing
@PML-N and PTI supporters: Wouldn't it help if instead of criticizing each other you guys join hands for once on the action both are planning, i.e. protesting? It's the "nation" as a whole we need to care about and not individual parties, regions or races.
Khuda ke liye yaar! Khuda ke liye!
Only sane voice in such a insane time.
@hassan Awan: Yes i agree 100 to @pakistani Politics:
Nawaz sharif announced the Long march for what and for who? did he speak to any opposition party? did he even bother to call any one before annoucing? did they form a proper delegation bodies to send to other parties and discuss agenda? ( Saad Rafique said last night on Islamabad Tonight Ajj news that THEY WILL MAKE NOW )..
Nawaz Sharif announced Long March to save his own face not for us, the common people, if he was sincere he would have first of all resigned from the National Assembly and Punjab assembly and then talked to the opposition leaders and after that announced a Long march..
He announced the long march b'coz he is super afraid at the moment and he does fear PTI. everyone used to criticize Imran khan that they make decisions without proper homework. what homework has PMLN done ? tell me? no contacts with oppositions, no date chosen for Long March, no resignations from any assembly and above all not a single attempt of NO-CONFIDENCE motion in assembly..
i would have said ok don't resign stay in the assembly but bring NO CONFIDENCE motion against PM. is it a joke? u can't convince fellow opposition parties in NA and trying to fool 18 cror awam again.. GROW UP
pml n is in a position of weakness.. pti is in a stronger position pml n should understand pti and other opposition parties like ji dont trust them any more in order to win their confidence pml n should resign from assemblies. but disadvantage pml n has is if they resign pti stance will be vindicated and their will be a sense that due to pti's pressure pml n resigned
Seriously Now I can understand those people who are supporting PMLN since they cant' even figure out the difference between PTI & N league's decisions...They might b unable to understand IMran Khan's sane ideas as well...!
@Hasan Awan: for ur kind Information don't take me a PTI supporter m just a political observer and i try my best to not stay biased, Its crystal clear that Nawaz Shareef will back off from his statement(illogical), and Imran khan should not join hands with PML N, as shareef brothers have a history of backstabbing
Imran Khan spoke very well as compared to what NS was uttering that day with no specifics and no meanings!! We are with Imran Khan!
There is no need for PML(N) and PTI to make hullabaloo for demanding resignation from PM Gilani as the official process of Supreme Court is moving in the very right direction and a day will come when the orders will reach to ECP to declare that Gilani's name from MNA's list have been revoked after his disqualification and hence neither he remained Member of National Assembly, nor the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Then Gilani would be having no choice, except to step down and to spend the rest of his time of PPP's tenure at Margalla Hills.
@Hasan Awan: Nawaz said he would protest before Election commission's decision and PM's constitutional right of filling an appeal Mian sb is just making publicity stunts and he has no knowledge of constitution as well as politics. Ch Shujaat said right that: "PML N's long march will not go further than Ravi bridge" u and me both are here u will notice a long silence of Nawas Shareef and hypocritical moves over PM's case, he has no guts stand before Zardari because he is just same like them
@Pakistan politics: Nawaz Sharif trusted that General Musharraf and look how Musharraf took over illegally to rule as a dictator for 9 years. I think Nawaz Sharif is simpler than all these other players!
@Hasan Awan: I'm not being biased here, i see 4 years friendly opposition, i see looting and wasting public money with both hands in Punjab on lame schemes, i see hypocrisy of Mian brothers, Mian sb's agenda and policy is clear in this Punjabi quote: "Utoon utoon Roiay wichon wichon Hasiay" Even i m not a supporter of Imran khan but he consider him good than Shareef's
@Pakistan politics: Pretty Strange Nawaz Announced it first. But when Nawaz Announced it was emotional and Illogical and when Imran announced it and in fact copied the decision of Nawaz then he is logical and a great decision. This is hypocricy of average PTI followers that they see everything in a biased manner. They see who is talking rather what someone is talking. Your statement is actually more illogical to me than anything else.
Whatever Imran and PPP will say anything it is logical for Pakistan Politcs and whatever Nawaz will say it is stupid for you.?
@Hasan Awan: u r misguided here Nawaz Shareef's and Imran khan's agenda is not same, and i do have a right to criticize and hate or love to anyone
@Pakistan politics: As in the previous news of PMLN i commented that there is only one party in Pakistan that you hate that is PMLN and there is only personality that you dislike that is Nawaz and once again you proved here as well. Your user name is Pakistan Politics but your views are always biased upto the mark. Stop this biased attitude and think objectively. Personal hatred agendas are not good and you must end this attitude as well.
PTI must not trust PMLN... PMLN is friendly and fake opposition....
very sensible decision
Politics of Nawaz Shareef has just come to an end, he thought he would be successful in deceiving the nation by sitting in the Gov. and opposition at same time and claiming to be a real opposition, Sorry Mian sb already ur party was limited to GT. road, it will be limited to Raiwind only
We are ready for the call IK!!! The youth is with you.
Imran Khan ZIndabad!!
Now Imran is talking sense and my salutations for him. I hope Opposition parties would form an Alliance and this would be a great step by Imran and now since PMLN and PTI have same stance so they should remove differences and should work collectively to build pressure on the government as stronger opposition always leads to a better governance and PTI-PMLN liaison in my view will benefit Pakistan.PMLN have already announced to have a discussion with PTI on thie regard and this would be great then. Both PMLN and PTI should end their solo flights altogether as in Politics you should reconciliate and work collectively as in a diverse country like Pakistan no single country can ever take in power easily but collective coalition can bring you in the government,
A sensible decision not like Nawaz Shareef's emotional decision as he has a habit of acting before thinking
Trusting Nawaz Shareef is same as committing a suicide
