Martyrs’ Day: Memorial held for martyred soldiers

Ceremony held to pay homage to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Pakistan who lost their lives in the line of duty.

BAHAWALPUR: A ceremony was held on Monday at Bahawalpur Garrison to pay homage to the soldiers of the Armed Forces of Pakistan who had lost their lives in the line of duty. The event was held in connection with the Youm-e-Shuhada. It started with special prayers for the martyrs. Their families and several civil and military officers were present at the occasion. Bahawalpur Corps Commander, Lt Gen Muhammad Haroon Aslam laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs Monument and offered fateha. He said it was important to acknowledge the sacrifices of the martyred soldiers. He said a Martyrs Cell had been set up at the Bahawalpur Corps Headquarters for the welfare of the families of these soldiers.  He urged the families to lodge complaints about any problems that they faced with the cell. School children presented several patriotic songs on the occasion.
